✦ Synopsis

A calorimetric determination of the specific heats of polycrystalline potassium aluminium alum and ammonium aluminium alum has been made in the temperature regions from 1.1 to 4.2Β°K and 14 to 20Β°K. The experimental results in the liquid helium temperature range have been represented by c~ = 3.35 x 10 -* T 3 J/mole-deg and c~ ----3.18 Γ— 10 -~ T 8 J/mole-deg respectively for the two alums. The Debye characteristic temperature computed for KA1 alum is 83.4Β°K and that for NH4A1 alum is 84.9Β°K. The observed deviations from the Debye formula of the heat capacities of a series of alums have been discussed.

The heat capacities of the fluorinated fullerenes C 60 F 48 , C 60 F 46 , and C 60 F 36 have been measured in an adiabatic vacuum calorimeter over the temperature range from 8 K to 356 K. The heat capacity curve of C 60 F 48 reveals a gradual "order-disorder" transition between the temperatures 315
