✦ Synopsis
Marcel Riesz was the younger brother of Frederick. He was among the most brilliant Hungarian mathematicians of his time. He worked in summability theory of power series, trigonometric series, and Dirichlet series. He gave an interpolation formula for trigonometric polynomials. Then he worked on the Hamburger moment problem and continued fractions. After moving to Lund, he was interested in potential theory and wave propagation and later in quantum mechanics and relativity. Thus the publication of Marcel Riesz's complete works will interest many mathematicians and physicists. Many papers are in German but their great majority is in French.
