โฆ Synopsis
The number of mitotic figures present at one time in regenerating mouse liver, 48 hours after injury with CCL, was increased by administration of colchicine. The livers were injected with india ink at the time of sacrifice to outline the blood vessels, and histological sections were made. Microscopic examination supported by statistical studies indicated that mitotic figures do not occur at random at this time i n regenerating mouse liver. The dividing cells were found i n close proximity to the terminal twigs of the branch of the portal vein in zone one of the functional lobule described by Rappaport.

## Abstract The frequency of mitotic cells in surgically stimulated rat livers in vivo was not affected by one and fiveminute exposures to 2.2 MHz ultrasound at intensities ranging from 60 to 16,000 mW/cm^2^. These results do not confirm Kremkau and Witcofski's report on mitotic reduction in rat li
Following acute injuries that diminish functional liver mass, the remaining hepatocytes substantially increase overall protein synthesis to meet increased metabolic demands and to allow for compensatory liver growth. Previous studies have not clearly defined the mechanisms that promote protein synth
Liver resection and liver transplantation are the treatment modalities with the greatest potential for curing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Tumor recurrence after resection for HCC is, however, a major problem, and an increased rate of recurrence after living donor transplantation versus cadaveric
