β¦ Synopsis
Linear dichrcrism of tetraphcnylporphyrin and mesoporhyrin IX dimethyl ester are reported together with their manganest (III) derivatives, using both stretched polythenc fdms and liquid crystals as the orienting solvents. AU obscrvcd electronic transitions in the range 350.-900 nm are found to bc polarised in tie p1ul.c of the porphyrin ring.

Contrast in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is largely determined by differences in the relaxation times of protons in tissues. Therefore, contrast agents (CAs) for this diagnostic methodology have mainly been sought among the coordination compounds of metal ions with several unpaired electrons, [
## Abstract A novel NMR shift reagent, cobalt(III) __meso__βtetraphenylporphyrin (CoTPP) was used to determine the conformations of azacycloheptane and azacyclooctane ligands complexed to the metalloporphyrin. Using the observed ring current shifts and a previously calibrated ring current model, th
