The leaf essential oil obtained from Idiospermum australiense (Diels) S. T. Blake in 0.3-0.5 % yield (based on fresh weight) consisted of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. The leaf essential oil from Allosyncarpia ternuta S . T. Blake was found to consist of a mixture of over 60 monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. The two groups of compounds contributed approximately equal amounts to the oil. The principal monoterpenes were fiand a-pinene and limonene, while the principal sesquiterpenes were /l-caryophyllene, globulol and spathulenol.
