β¦ Synopsis
Yet leadership is just as important in other arenas, and in particular, in science and technology. Many of the problems we face today cannot be solved by business methods or political skills alone-they require advances in scientific understanding of the world and in the careful application of new knowledge to create technical innovations. Whether developing innovative technologies and products or managing complex, interdependent research projects, great leaders must be collaborative, communicative, and capable of instilling confidence in their processes.
Collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches are finding more footing across a wide array of industries. An examination of how two seemingly different fields are developing leaders for the challenges that lay ahead shows how this approach to leadership may be transferred to other fields of expertise.
