The Last Planet is the first paperback edition of the novel
originally (and subsequently) published as Star Rangers.
A starship from a decaying Galactic empire, with a mixed human-alien
crew, is exploring the outer fringes of the Milky Way. A crash-landing on an
apparently empty planet marks the end of the voyage. With no hope of repairing
the vessel, the surviving crewmen must plan their future, allot their
resources, and explore all avenues for a new life on this world.
