At a temperature well above Train, SO that hydrogen is mainly ionized and diffuses negligibly into magnetic tubes, helium can still be mainly neutral so that chemical differentiation could occur. Calculation shows that the rate is too small to acccount for variations in chemical abundance found in the solar wind.
