✦ Synopsis
This paper presents and evaluates a wall-distance-free low-Re k± turbulence closure model in which the damping function is determined from its own transport equation. Several ¯ow examples are used to test the model, with very encouraging results.

A low Reynolds number kl turbulence model is presented. The model is based on the following three attributes: (1) it involves neither explicit wall distance nor normal-to-wail directionality, except to the first grid point off walls; (2) it enforces time scale realisability; (3) it invokes a simple
The applicability of a finite element-differential method to the computation of steady two-dimensional lowspeed, transonic and supersonic turbulent boundary-layer flows is investigated. The turbulence model chosen for the Reynolds shear stress and turbulent heat flux is the k-t. two-equation model.
