โœฆ Synopsis

The kinetics of the thermal reaction between SF, and CF,OF has been studied between 142ยฐC and 185ยฐC. The reaction was found to be homogeneous and the only products formed are equimolecular amounts of SF, and CF,O,CF, and smaller amounts of CF,OSF,.

The reaction mechanism was not affected by the total pressure, the oxygen pressure, or by the buildup of products. The experimental data can be explained by the following mechanism:

(1)

CF,O + CF,O -+ CF,OOCF, (4) CF,O + SF, + CF,OSF,

The rate constants can be expressed as k, = (4.58 t 0.30) x lo7 exp(-18900 f 1000 cal/RT) M-'s-' k, = (3.88 f 0.30) x lo9 exp( -9800 f 1000 cal/RT) W ' s -'

The kinetics of the thermal reaction between CF,OF and C,F, have been investigated between 20 and 75ยฐC. It is a homogeneous chain reaction of moderate length where the main product is a mixture of the two isomers l-C,F,OCF, (68%) and 2-C3F,0CF3 (32%). Equimolecular amounts of CF,OOCF, and CsF,, are

The thermal addition of CF,0sCF3(T 1 to CF2CCl2(E) has been investigated between 49.6 and 69.5"C. The initial pressure of CFJ03CF3 was varied between 7 and 240 torr and that of CF2CC12 between 4 and 600 torr. Four products of formula CF30(E),00CF3, wherej = 1 + 4 are formed. The kinetics of the gas-phase thermal reaction between CFz(0F)z and CO has been studied in a static system a t temperatures ranging between 110 and 140ยฐC. The only reaction products were CFz0 and Con, giving the following stoichiometry: The reaction is homogeneous. The rate is strictly second order
