✦ Synopsis

The kinetics of the photochemical 03 decomposition at 3340 A have been investigated in a static system at -12 and 25°C. The 03 pressure was varied between 50 and 300 torr, the 02 pressure between 0.3 and 500 torr. Nz was added up to 500 torr. For the quantum cfticiency a limiting value of 4.0 mole/lzu has been found. This value corresponds to an oxygen-free system and is not influenced by the presence of inert gases. The course of the reaction corresponds to the one found for the 03 decomposition in red light, the quantum efficiency at 3340 A always being exactly twice as high.
