โฆ Synopsis
The perturbation radiation corrections to electron scattering diverge as the energy resolution zJE vanishes 1). This makes terms, of order higher than the first power of the fine structure constant ~, important for small values of HE already obtained experimentally. The Bloch-Nordsieck type calculations i,a,,) show that the high order, low energy photon processes are essential, and that the above mentioned divergence is due to the inadequacy of the perturbation method for these processes. However, this type of calculation is invalid for high energy virtual photons. Using the recent formulation of the Bloch-Nordsieck method t), and a perturbation treatment cut off for small photon energies, an expression fpr certain events is found, correct to any chosen order in ~ and to first order in a parameter of magnitude < I0 -t.
