Bruce Jafek and colleagues-"Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma: Management of Intracranial Extension," which appears on page 119 of this issue-attests to the physician's continuing fascination with this uncommon benign tumor. Some reasons for this interest are the predilection of the disease for juvenile males and its insidious and relentless clinical course, which is characterized by nasal obstruction, epistaxis, and facial deformity. Successful surgical excision of the extracranial component has become common partially because of improved angiographic diagnosis. However, cases of intracranial extension of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) present those unique problems that tumors within the cranial cavity may cause.
