β¦ Synopsis
The J-integral, a one-parameter average measure of the elastic-plastic field near a crack tip, was investigated as a fracture criterion for fiber-reinforced concrete. Cement paste, plain concrete and eight different steel and glass fiber concretes in the form of notched beams were tested in bending, and JIC, as well as the linear elastic fracture mechanics parameters KIC and GIC were evaluated. The results suggest that JIC is a promising fracture criterion for all of these, while KIC (or GIC) almost certainly are not, except for cement paste. In evaluating the effect of steel fiber additions, it was found that a fiber addition of less than 0.75% did not improve the strength or fracture behaviour of the concrete, nor did JIC change very much. However, at higher fiber contents, JIC showed significant increases, reflecting the changed character of the material; KIC and GIC did not.

Fracture behaviour of randomly oriented short glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin has been investigated. Fracture tests were conducted on single edge notched specimens and J integral evaluated using energy rate interpretation. Its value is found to be independent of crack length when crack length to
In this paper, the material is assumed to be linearly viscoelastic with respect to the changes in stress and strain which occur during crack propagation. ## Abstract This study addresses the availability of the genetic programming (GP) approach for the formulation of strength enhancement of FRP (fiberβreinforced polymer) confined concrete cylinders. The GP formulation is based on experimental results collected from the literature. The accuracy of th
