โœฆ Synopsis

EXPERIMENTS recently conducted in the Bureau of Chemistry show that polluted atmosphere is an important factor in the deterioration of bookbinding leather. The products of fuel combustion, which pollute the atmosphere in most of our cities, are very corrosive. They attack the leather of bindings exposed to them and hasten its deterioration.

The effect of these atmospheric impurities may be counteracted by the application of finishes or dressings, either during the process of manufacturing the leather or when the book is bound.

Concentration and temperature independent iso-emissive points are discussed. The conditions for the existence of a temperature independent iso-emissive point are shown to be more complex than proposed by Hamilton and Naqvi due to the dependence of CY~ aud@i on temperature. It is shown that iso-emiss
