Calculations of phase eqmlibria in the iron-nickel system at high pressure indicate miscibility gap formation and eutectoid decomposition in iron-nickel alloys at pressures exceeding 60 kb. This behaviour may be the origin of the plessite microstructure, which is an intimate lamellar mixture of low
