β¦ Synopsis
Details of an OODR study of the Rydberg states of the lithium dimer are presented which were used to arrize at a value of (T_{0}(\infty)=41496 \pm 4 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}) for the ionization potential of ({ }^{7} \mathrm{Li}{2}). Using a more recent value for the dissociation energy of the ({ }^{7} \mathrm{Li}{2}) ground electronic state, a value of (D_{\mathrm{e}}=10464 \pm 6 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}) is derived for the dissociation energy of the (\mathrm{X}^{2} \mathrm{r}{\mathrm{g}}^{+})ground state of ({ }^{7} \mathrm{Li}{2}^{+})These results are in serious disageement with a recent determination in which an inconect spectral assigment is believed to have been made.
