The iodine/iodide redox couple was studied on platinum in a solution of 05 M HsSOl by measuring the impedance as a function of frequency. current densityj, was derived according to Sluyters.
From these measurements the exchange The dependence of this exchange current density j0 on the reversible potential, the iodine and the iodide concentration, was established.
By comparing the theoretical slopes with the experimental slopes, it is shown that the electrode process consists of the three reactions I-* Isd -+ e, Iad + I-z 1, + e, I, + I-* Is-, of which the second reaction Iad + I-Z I, + e determines the exchange cd. The transfer coefficient is 05, the standard exchange cd is 400 mA/cm2 and the energy of activation is 15 Kcal/mole.

Nous avons trouve que le coefficient de transfert se monte a 05, la densite de courant d'echange standard a 400 rnA/cm' et l'energie d'activation a 15 Kcal/mole. Zusammenfassnng-Man untersuchte das Redoxsystem Iod/Iodid in 0,5 M Schwefelslure durch Messung der Elektroden-Impedanz in Abhangigkeit der Frequenz. Aus den Messergebnissen wnrde die Austauschstromdichte j, nach der Methode von Sluyters abgeleitet und als Funktion des reversiblen Potentials sowie der Iod-und Iodidkonzentration ermittelt. Aus dem Vergleich der experimentell gefundenen Zusammenhinge mit den theoretischen Beziehungen ergab sich, dass die Bruttoreaktion aus den folgenden drei Teilschritten besteht :
