✦ Synopsis

By the example of the sine-Gordon equation, we develop a technique for obtaining soliton solutions. This procedure is not connected with a concrete matrix realization of the Lax pair operators but it directly appeals to the properties of internal symmetry spectrum of the corresponding equations.
