By diffusion at 205Β°C of gold into lead containing a few atomic 9/o magnesium, two layers of intermetallic Au-Pb compounds and a zone consisting of a continuous lead phase with finely dispersed AuMg particles are formed. The depth of internal "auridation " is proportional to the square root of time.
