The sorption of silver ions from 0.1 M HNO 3 solutions on copper hexacyanoferrate (II) Cu II 2 Fe II (CN) 6 was investigated using batch experiments. Sorption kinetics and isotherms were studied in which ICP/AES was used for determining the amount of sorbed Ag and the quantities of elements released

✦ Synopsis
The Cu n complex with EDTA GuY 2-(y4-= anion of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) was shown to interact with hexacyanoferrate(II), Fe(CN)64-, in alkaline solutions to form a mixed complex with a light absorption maximum at 495nm (molar absorbance ca. 4OOOdm 3 tool-1 cm-1). From spectrophotometric data a possible composition of the new complex was proposed [Cu2YFe(CN)~-] and the equilibrium constant of complex formation reaction: Ke y4 -2CuY 2-+ Fe(CN)~-~ CuzYFe(CN)64-+ was determined (log Ke = -1.7 + 0.1).
The formation of new complex compounds of similar type was shown by spectrophotometric measurements at interaction of Fe(CN)64-ions with Cu n complexes with other aminocarboxyacids, e.g. EGTA, NTA, HEDTA and DTPA.
