✦ Synopsis
The electrodeposition of aluminum and zinc from AlBr3-dimethylethylphenylammonium bromide solutions in aromatic hydrocarbon has been studied by the chronoamperometric technique. The diffusion coefficients of the reducible species determined by different methods are found to be in satisfactory agreement with each other. Analysis of chronoamperograms indicate that the deposition process of aluminum and zinc alike involves progressive nucleation with diffusion controlled growth of the nuclei. The two maxima in the current-time transients are disclosed as apparently due to separate nucleation of aluminum and zinc.
