The vibrational spectrum of Sb.,O, in the gas phase has been measured at 1000 K by high-temperature infrared spectroscopy. The four infrared-active absorption bands were observed at u,=785.0 cm', us= 176.2 cm-', v,=292.4 cm-' and v,,=415.6 cm-'. By combining these results with data on the molecular
PbBi6O4 (PO4)4 obtained at room temperature is isomorphous with the high-temperature phase Bi6.67O4 (PO4)4. The Pb atom replaces 0.67 Bi in the same crystallographic site. The vanadate and arsenate with the composition PbBi6O4(XO4)4 were synthesized and yielded isomorphic phases at room temperature.
