✦ Synopsis
The 1 1 0 2 1 1 band of the CCN radical in the ground 2 state has been recorded by tunable diode laser spectroscopy. Two of the three Renner-Teller subbands of this transition have been assigned and analysed. A series of doublets is assigned as the 1 1 0 2 1 1 µ 2 (-) band, and both spin-orbit components of the 1 1 0 2 1 1 2 band have been observed. The data have been analyzed using an effective N 2 Hamiltonian modified to include the Renner-Teller effect explicitly in a 2 state. The 1 1 0 2 1 1 κ 2 (+) band could not be identified from the data; possible reasons for this are discussed.

The infrared diode laser spectrum of the n 2 / n 5 0 n 2 hot band of acetylene has been observed within the discharge plasma of acetylene diluted in He. The concentration of acetylene in the n 2 state was modulated by applying a few kHz of ac current, and the spectrum of the hot band was recorded se
