โฆ Synopsis
The multiphoton ionization (MPI) mass spectrum of 1,1,1-trichloroethane has been observed at 266 nm. A three-fold enhancement in the signal is observed due to vibrational excitation of 1,1,1-trichloroethane with a CO2 laser. The infrared enhanced MPI spectrum shows a different fragmentation pattern than does 1,1-dichloroethylene, which would be the product of infrared multiphoton dissociation.
