โฆ Synopsis
A theoretical explanation of the difference between the values of the zero charge potential and the potential of the minimum differential capacity is presented for the mercury electrode in solutions of specifically non-adsorbing salts of the 1:l type. The analysis concerns cases where there exists a monotonic dependence C = f(q) in the area near the PZC. In the assumed model the value other than zero of the slope of the differential capacity curve of the Helmholtz layer as a function of the charge in the vicinity of the PZC of the electrode was taken into account. Mathematical formulas allow calculation of this difference between the exact and approximate forms and the results of the calculations may be compared with experimental data.
