✦ Synopsis

The development of femoral antetorsion is explained by certain authors (ALTMANN, GIC~NEWALD) on phylogenetic basis whereas others (NAucI~, LE ])A-~A~¥) state that it is caused by a relative lack of intrauterine space. Most of the authors (LANZ, FRIEDLXNDEI¢, PITZEN, DE CUVELAND) think that femoral antetorsion is the consequence of muscle function. Few data except those of Bv, m~-Bv, C~Z'S are however available to show factors influencing gradual postnatal decrease of the antetorsion.
