## Abstract Articular cartilage is an avascular connective tissue that exhibits little intrinsic capacity for repair. Articular cartilage exists in a reduced oxygen (โผ5%) environment in vivo; therefore, oxygen tension may be an important factor that regulates the metabolism of chondrocyte progenito
