This paper investigates factors affecting ultrasonic cleaning of particle-fouled ceramic membranes and possible mechanisms responsible for cleaning. Homogeneous ceramic membranes were fouled by sulfate polystyrene latex particles in a dead-end filtration cell and subsequently subjected to ultrasound
