β¦ Synopsis
A previous approximation scheme [6] which allowed to calculate, in a simple manner, the quantity An2/% (n mea.n value and An2 variance of the photon number) in the course of a multi-photon absorption process, is extended to study the change of the shape of the photon distribution, too. It turns out that there is a tendency to symmetrize the distribution. Moreover, an approrimative expression for the asymptotic distribution to which the distribution tends after a sufficiently strong absorption, irrespective of the initial distribution, is found in form of a Gaussian.
Der Einflufl der Mehr-Photonen-Absorption auf die Photonenstatistik
I n h a l tsubersicht.

We examine several proposed schemes by Franson et al. for quantum logic gates based on non-local exchange interactions between two photons in a medium. In these schemes the presence of a single photon in a given mode is supposed to induce a large phase shift on another photon propagating in the same
