In the previous paper [1] modifications of Abrams and Bolomey formulas well applicable to evaluate the influence of fly ash upon the strength of concrete were proposed. In the submitted paper we present the example of utilization of the general form of proposed modifications to evaluate the complex

β¦ Synopsis
The research presented in this paper was intended to clarify the nature of concrete strengthening in the presence of silica fume.
For this purpose, compressive strength development of high strength concrete and its paste-matrix was investigated. Carbon black was introduced as an alternative microflller to silica fume. The results indicated that carbon black was effective in modifying the basic concrete-matrix strength relationship to an extent similar to that obtained by silica fume. It is suggested that the mechanism by which silica fume affects the concrete behaviour is of a physical origin and is based on microfiller effect, prior to its action as a pozzolanic material. The microfiller effect is of greater significance to strength enhancement.

The influence of non-standard curing practice on the strengths of specimen and in-situ concrete is evaluated by experimental testing. Samples were collected randomly from construction sites distributed over two areas of distinct climatic conditions: 1) hot and dry (arid) climate, and 2) hot and mois
The size effect of concrete strength has been analysed by statistical theories of brittle materials in this paper. On the basis of available theories and experiments, normal distribution was used in preference to any other. The use of Weibull's theory in a non-uniformly tensile stress state has been
