β¦ Synopsis
Excitation at frequency far beyond dominant resonance frequencies may a!ect the usual &&slow'' dynamics of a mechanical system. Here an examination of the e!ects of high-frequency excitation on a simple continuous mechanical system, a simply supported beam is presented and the possibility of utilizing highfrequency excitation to change the system's dynamical properties is considered.

## Abstract In this paper we make an effort to understand the interaction of turbulence generated by the magnetorotational instability (MRI) with turbulence from other sources, such as supernova explosions (SNe) in galactic disks. First we perform a linear stability analysis (LSA) of nonβideal MRI
In this paper, metric complexities of certain classes of continuous-time systems are studied, using the time-domain sampling approach and the concepts of Kolmogorov, Gel'fand and sampling n-widths for certain classes of Sobolev space. A sampling theorem is obtained which extends Shannon's sampling t
In this paper, a modi"ed normal form approach for obtaining normal forms of parametrically excited systems is presented. This approach provides a number of signi"cant advantages over the existing normal form approaches, and improves the associated calculations. The approach lends itself more readily
