✦ Synopsis


E ~per/ments were performed to measure the rain/mum energy, E, of an instantaneous point source, needed to mduce a propagating normal transition (quem?h) m a superconductor. The energy pulse was supphed to the superconductor by a mm/atur/zed heater element which had a thermal time constant of "" 20 ps. E~ depends on the current d~.str/but/on m the conductor and/s lower for a nonhomogenenus distr/butmn.
