## Abstract This paper investigates the incidence of dyslexia among young offenders in Kuwait. A total of 91 children/young adults from 8 juvenile delinquent welfare centres across Kuwait were interviewed and tested. A measure of nonโverbal reasoning ability was used to exclude those with low gener

โฆ Synopsis
An experiment is reported in which dyslexics (on average ten-and-a-half years old) showed marked Stroop interference of a colour word on the naming of a colour. This interference was larger than that shown by control subjects matched for chronological age, but not larger than that experienced by a group of control subjects matched for reading age (about eight years old). Dyslexics show interference consistent with their reading age. It is hypothesized that the resources available to dyslexics for controlling automatic word reading are less than those for non-dyslexics of a similar chronological age. 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

## Abstract Successful information processing requires the focusing of attention on a certain stimulus property and the simultaneous suppression of irrelevant information. The Stroop task is a useful paradigm to study such attentional topโdown control in the presence of interference. Here, we inves

## Abstract In this article, we review research supporting the modified Stroop colorโnaming paradigm as a means for assessing intrusive cognition in patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Because Stroop interference reflects involuntary semantic activation, delayed colorโnaming of trau
