โœฆ Synopsis

An experiment is reported in which dyslexics (on average ten-and-a-half years old) showed marked Stroop interference of a colour word on the naming of a colour. This interference was larger than that shown by control subjects matched for chronological age, but not larger than that experienced by a group of control subjects matched for reading age (about eight years old). Dyslexics show interference consistent with their reading age. It is hypothesized that the resources available to dyslexics for controlling automatic word reading are less than those for non-dyslexics of a similar chronological age. 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

## Abstract Successful information processing requires the focusing of attention on a certain stimulus property and the simultaneous suppression of irrelevant information. The Stroop task is a useful paradigm to study such attentional topโ€down control in the presence of interference. Here, we inves

The definition and explanation of dyslexia have long been problematic. A causal modelling framework involving three levels of description-behavioural, cognitive and biological-can solve some seemingly intractable problems and confusions. Dyslexia can be defined as a neuro-developmental disorder with

These intensity variations are interference fringes arising from coherent light s

## Abstract In this article, we review research supporting the modified Stroop colorโ€naming paradigm as a means for assessing intrusive cognition in patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Because Stroop interference reflects involuntary semantic activation, delayed colorโ€naming of trau
