โฆ Synopsis
In a 2-month period in 1970, the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory received 2 , 2 0 2 specimens of blood. On receipt 7.8% of these were clotted. By the use of statistical techniques the accuracy and precision of the results obtained on clotted specimens are discussed and compared with unclotted specimens. In the event there were no signijicant dzjirences between clotted and unclotted specimens. Continuous monitoring of the specimens received since the detailed survey shows no increase in the incidence of clotting. In fact in a 6-week period at the end of 1973, less than 1% of the specimens received were recorded as being clotted.
