For the purpose of studying its applicability for acrylic cement removal during total hip revision surgery, experiments with an extracorporeal shock wave lithotriptor were camed out. High-energy shock waves (HESW) were focussed on discs of polymethylmethacrylate bone cement. The average discharge wa
