Voltage-gated calcium channels (Ca(V)s) govern muscle contraction, hormone and neurotransmitter release, neuronal migration, activation of calcium-dependent signalling cascades, and synaptic input integration. An essential Ca(V) intracellular protein, the beta-subunit (Ca(V)beta), binds a conserved
