✦ Synopsis

On the basis of the result of Smith [Proc. R. Sot. 305A, 384 (1967)], we analyse the elastic interaction between a screw dislocation and a crack of finite length. The image force on the screw dislocation and the crack extension force are considered. The effects of the dislocations inside the crack and the curvature of the crack are also discussed. In addition, the location of the screw dislocation is extended from the crack surface to the inclined plane. Some special cases are treated here and the results are compared with those of the other reports.
