✦ Synopsis

A functional high-affinity IL-2 receptor (IL-2R) is comprised of at least three subunits (cz, [3, and 7) that cooperatively act to bind IL-2, leading to the growth of antigen-activated T lymphocytes (Hatakeyama et al. 1989;Takeshita et al. 1992). Mouse and human IL-2Rc~ chain genes (I1-2ra) have been mapped to chromosome 2 band 2A2 or 2A3 (Webb et al. 1990) and chromosome 10p14-p15 (Leonard et al. 1985), respectively.
