โœฆ Synopsis

The incidence of early stromal invasion in apparently non-invasive papillary carcinomas of the bladder has been investigated, using methenamine silver/periodic acid-Schiff stains (MS/PAS). It is shown that where there is some difficulty in making this assessment in haematoxylin and eosin stained sections, MS/PAS stains are helpful. It has also been shown that three of 44 non-invasive tumours show evidence of invasion at deeper levels in the paraffin block. Finally, contrary to expectations, the presence or absence of invasion could not be used as an indication of subsequent behaviour.

## Abstract Ureteral obstruction is a frequent complication of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), known as a poor prognostic sign and indicative of advanced disease. We investigated retrospectively the medical records of 122 consecutive patients who suffered from invasive TCC of the urinary bladder

Small cell carcinomas (SCCs) represent a rare histological subtype of urinary bladder cancer. Little is known abut the genetic alterations in these tumours. To identify chromosomal aberrations that are typically present in SCC of the urinary bladder, ten tumours were analysed by comparative genomic

## Abstract ## __Background.__ Tumor invasion involves complex interactions between tumor and stromal cells. We examined the extent of connective tissue in the tumor stroma and whether myofibroblasts play a role in assisting cancer invasion and metastasis. ## __Methods.__ Biopsy materials from 8
