Abstract

We consider a certain stochastic pursuit—evasion problem of the homicidal chauffeur type. Specifically, weshow that, in contrast to the less straightforward swerve manoeuvre employed in the deterministic model, the particularly simple bang‐bang pursuit strategy synthesized here is applicable to a significant range of problem parameters. The strategy of the slower but agile player is also characterized, and its geometric meaning isillustrated.

We study a zero-sum stochastic differential game in the nonnegative orthrant. The state of the system is governed by controlled reflecting diffusions in the nonnegative orthrant. We consider discounted and average payoff evaluation criteria. We prove the existence of values and optimal strategies fo

A discrete-time dynamic production/distribution problem for a commodity is considered, comprising several delivery points. At each time, only the global amount of the demand is known, whereas the demand at each delivery point is only bounded above. The system has both production and transportation c
