โฆ Synopsis
The acclaimed spiritual writer, Fr. Wilfrid Stinissen, presents powerful and inspiring reflections on the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity, showing the crucial importance for us to have a strong devotion to the Spirit. Before his Ascension to heaven, the Lord Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom, grace and strength to live a deep Christian life.
In this work, Fr. Stinissen illustrates how the Holy Spirit is Gods own love, "the fire of divine love", and he desires to live in us so that we can love God and others with his love. As the Holy Spirit cane down upon the early Church at Pentecost to strengthen the apostles to set the world ablaze with Gods love and truth, so he wants to do the same with us.
Fr. Stinissen discusses the nature & characteristics of the Holy Spirit, the place of the Spirit in one's personal spiritual life, spiritual discernment, and the role of the Spirit in the Church and in ecumenism. He says that the Holy Spirit is the great ecumenist. If we let him live in and through us, we grow in unity, whether we will it or not. It is his "charism" to make all things one. He makes the Father and the Son one God. He wants to make all denominations into one holy Church, and all people into one body.
