✦ Synopsis
The (\nu_{8}) band of disilane centred at (939.3 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}) has been recorded at high resolution ((0.004) (\mathrm{cm}^{-1}) ) for the first time. About 700 lines have been assigned and analysed with terms to account for torsional spliting and Coriolis coupling with the nearby (v_{6}) band. The overall RMS of the fit was (0.0032 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}), which is rather higher than expected for this resolution but which probably arises from unassigned Coriolis and Fermi interactions. Other neighbouring states that may interact with the (\nu_{8}) band are also discussed using the (\mathrm{G}_{36}^{\dagger}) symmetry group. co 1943 Academic Press. Inc.
