β¦ Synopsis
cardiovascular side effects.' Its EDg5 is 25 to 30 pg/kg, and it does not release histamine in doses as high as 80 pg/kg. The cardiovascular stability of doxacurium has been demonstrated in healthy patients,2 and in patients with cardiovascular disease.3 The present study examined the hemodynamic effects of doxacurium in patients undergoing abdominal aortic surgery.
Methods
Ten ASA physical status III and IV patients scheduied to undergo elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair were included in the study. The study protocol was approved by the institutional research administrative committee, and each patient gave written informed consent. All patients had reasonable exercise tolerance and were hemodynamically stable. Exclusion criteria included alcoholism, known drug abuse, unusual sensitivity to neuromuscular blocking agents, and major systemic diseases.
The patients were premeditated 90 minutes prior to rti_ ____*I__.
