β¦ Synopsis
The widely quoted semiclassical inversion of the 4He-4He total scattering cross section data in the region of the low repulsive wall is shown to be inconsistent with both a recent ab initio and a semi-empiriui potential representing the helium interatomic forces. Further low-energy scattering data is required to resolve the very small remaining inconsistencies in the two latter potentials.
