โฆ Synopsis
The Greeks had a Word for it And the Scots usually have a phrase which, in all probability, can be neither pronounced nor correctly interpreted by the majority of the English. There is a world of difference between "She's no awfy weel" (She is a little "off colour" -medically speaking) and "She's awfy no weel" (She is at death's door). But then the English, and even the Scots, cannot always agree on what they mean by the same word or phrase: take Education and/or Training for example.
I n Forensic Science circles, which is what we seem to have been going around in for years with regard to education and training, there has been considerable recent interest as shown by the several meetings and discussions, not to mention editorials, on the subject but there has been relatively little forward movement. However, let us be fair, there have been some encouraging signs of appraisal and action. Dr. Whitehead has reported on the findings of the Forensic Science Society Education Committee (this Journal, October 1975) and the Councilof the Society has already implemented one of the proposals in donating an annual prize for the most meritorious student attending the M.Sc. course in Forensic Science at the University of Strathclyde. I t must now seek to pursue with vigour other items of its declared policy and not allow the dust to settle on yet another document.
