✦ Synopsis
The temporal variations of the Occurrence of the (M-X) LDE flares (with the SXR duration exceeding 2 hours) throughout the 20th and the Zlst cycles are considered. The characteristics of the 20th cycle: the maximum value of the observed yearly number of LDE flares was in the 1970 (with the total 225 LDE flares observed). The increased LDE flare activities were observed in the years 1972 and 1974 (see Tab. I). The characteristics of the 21st cycle: the large Occurrence of the (M-X) LDE flares was observed from 1979 to 1982. The yearly numbers of the (M-X) LDE nares in 1980 -168, 1981 -I51 and 1982 -I35 arecomparable. The fast decrease of the whole flare activity begun at 1983. The percentual representation of the (M-X) LDE flares in the Occurrence rate of all Ha flares fluctuated between 1-3 %.

We discuss the preheating phase of solar flares triggered by emerging magnetic flux. We consider the development of microinstabilities in the diffusion region during the emergence process and we propose four different types of reconnection, by which we explain the preheating, as well as the impulsiv
Interferometric radio observations together with soft X-ray observations are presented here to show that during the growth phase of soft X-ray flares, a large mass increase occurs simultaneously with the creation of an X-ray hot region in the corona. Data from sixteen large flares show that the EUV emission is dominated by gradual emission which parallels the soft X-ray emission in duration and magnitude. The data are consistent with the separation of EUV and X-ray flare emission into two distinct components. A persistent component is made up of
Gradual enhancements which repeatedly appeared 20-50 min after the onset of an impulsive burst were observed in microwaves and hard X-rays. The observed characteristics of the gradual enhancements are (i) the similarity of time profiles in both the frequency range of 17 GHz to 160 MHz and the energ
