โœฆ Synopsis

Using a case study of a successful knowledge-mapping project at a major pharmaceutical ยฎrm, this paper describes the features and value of a knowledge atlas, which is deยฎned as a set of linked knowledge maps that form a rich, contextual picture of complex business processes. The collaborative process of building such an atlas begins to create the connections and understanding that are enhanced by the ยฎnished atlas. The beneยฎts of the process and the atlas include better-informed decision making by employees at all levels, improved quality and efยฎciency, and identiยฎcation of valuable knowledge resources and critical knowledge gaps.
