I computer field-but as an educator kom the field of CME who has spent many years involved with its problems-and as the incoming president ofACME, the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education, a national organization dedicated to dealing with some of these issues in continuing education.

In 1980, the ACME Council membership set forth three directions for its hture work: 1. Give help to individual self-directed learners in assessing their own needs; in deciding the content of their learning; and in improving their skills and attitudes. 2. Give increasing recognition to the diversity of individual learning styles.
