Another recent introduction is the Lysol No-Touch hand soap system, an antibacterial hand soap that is said to kill 99.9% of bacteria [ibid, Apr 2010]. Data from Information Resources Inc showed that sales of Lysol disinfectants climbed 17% for the year ended 21 Feb 2010 in supermarkets, drugstores and merchandizers, excluding Walmart. Sales of the household cleaner segment in total, however, dropped 2.1% to $1.42 bn (manufacturer's dollars) for the year. Clorox got a boost from the recent H1N1 pandemic, helping the firm record a 5% growth in FY 2Q 2009. But with pandemic worries starting to decline, unit volume gain is also expected to slow.
